Yacht Carol launched at San Lorenzo

Yacht Carol launched at San Lorenzo

In March 2010 we saw the launch of Lammouche, the first Sanlorenzo superyacht in their 46 Steel series. Yesterday, This week the Italian shipyard has announced the launch of Carol, being the second hull in this series.

Like her predecessor, details that ensured the success of the first hull are present: the stern Beach Club, a large lateral tender garage, a toy garage below the foredeck and the lower deck housing technical and service areas.

Carol is powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B engines of 1,500kW each, giving a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at an economical speed of 12 knots.

Sanlorenzo, is a prestigious Italian Shipyard that for more than 50 years has produced tailor-made motor yachts matching the style and requirements of each owner. The 46 Steel megayacht CAROL measures 46 meters in length, this steel and aluminium trideck is designed by Viareggio Division Style, a department of Sanlorenzo. Her exterior lines echo the Sanlorenzo style in other series from the yard. This design also provides maximum daylight to the interior. Boasted as the flagship of Sanlorenzo’s fleet, it has a 3 deck displacement hull in steel with an aluminium superstructure.

The well-balanced exterior lines of motor yacht CAROL have been conceived to give maximum light to the interior and are perfectly matching with the design philosophy underlying Sanlorenzo’s “navettas” range. The 46 Steel is in perfect continuity with the two semi-displacement composite models – the SD92 and the SD122 -, and is also reflected in the design of the great glazed surfaces running along the side walls of the main deck, which continue without breaks on the upper deck and end in the distinctive “whisker” at the aft section of the superstructure.

The gross tonnage of the 46 Steel motor yacht CAROL is 499 tons, to remain below SOLAS regulation.

The vast stern area houses the Beach Club – a fitness area complete with gym and relaxation equipment (SPA) with a dedicated bathroom. The Beach Club faces a huge bathing platform, perfectly leveled floor with no steps. From the main deck you can reach the Beach Club through two stairways: outside from the cockpit and inside from the saloon. The 46 Steel garage is positioned in front of this area witha big starboard side door and is big enough to accommodate a 20’ tender.

significant feature of the 46 Steel, never seen on a boat of this size, is the under lower deck, a further deck situated below the lower deck. It consists of a central tunnel running all the way from stern to bow, and housing the technical areas (stabilizer fins, bow-thruster and different systems) and the service areas (laundry room, with 3 washing machines and 3 driers, ironing board, and a refrigeration zone with freezers and cold storage rooms). Usually, this tunnel is tight and narrow also in larger yachts. On the 46 Steel CAROL it is high enough to walk through, simplifying system checking and maintenance. The under lower deck has an additional access to the engine room, to let the Chief Engineer accessing the room without raising to the upper deck where the guest rooms are located.

Sanlorenzo 46 Steel yacht is powered by two CAT 3512B x 2,040 mHP (1,500 kW) at 1,600 rpm, with a maximum speed of 17 knot, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range at 12 knots of 4,000 nm.

Sanlorenzo shipyards were established in Viareggio in 1958 and up to 1985 the production consisted of semi-custom boats totally wooden-made. In 1985, the first Sanlorenzo fibreglass flying bridge was born, the SL57. In 1999 the company moved to Ameglia into a natural park area (Sanlorenzo is certified “UNI EN ISO 14001” which guarantees the utmost respect for the environment). The lines of the Sanlorenzo fleet have always been extremely classic, never-aging.

In April 2005, Massimo Perotti took over from Giovanni Jannetti the shipyards that become Sanlorenzo Spa. Massimo Perotti, after bringing to completion many of the most original and successful products of the sector, decides to leave the industry figures where he had built his background to join a tradition of absolute perfection and small production numbers. The Sanlorenzo philosophy remains focused on ”‘customization and total dedication to the customer, top notch quality and personal relationships”.

Today Sanlorenzo is based on two divisions: the Ameglia Division, for the production of fibreglass motor yachts ranging between 62 and 108 ft., and the Viareggio Division, for the production of navettas in composite material with semi-displacement hull from 92 to 122 ft. and super yachts in metal (aluminium and steel), from 40 to 50 metres over

Carol will be delivered this Spring.
