Superyacht YAS launched from ADM Shipyard

Superyacht YAS launched from ADM Shipyard

Inspired by a Navy Frigate built in 1977, Project Swift141 has commenced its life as a superyacht at the recent launch and naming ceremony to ‘Yas’.

French Design Studio Pierrejean Design conceived the flowing curves fo the exterior and amazing enclosed glass interior. The arrangement designed to accommodate up to 60 guests whilst boasting ‘green’ fuel economy and acheiving speeds of up to 26 knots achieved through the narrow beam and proven naval hull form. The variable pitch propellors can then be adjusted to maintain a transatlantic cruising speed of 20 knots.

Superyacht ‘Yas’ has many innovative and significant features including a large carbonfibre garage door providing a boarding and swim platform in the open position and access to the large outdoor Pool/spa area. On the top deck a Helipad, additional tender stowage and an exceptional forward viewing deck can be found.

McKay Marine Electrical undertook the planning, design and installation of electrical components including one of the most extensive and sophisticated audiovisual entertainment systems aboard any yacht. Yas is also equipped with advanced radars, SatCom, long-range underwater Sopnar, Flir, dozens of HD security cameras and a Night Navigator system.

Launched from the ADM Shipyards in Abu Dhabi, Yas claims the title of sixth largest superyacht in the world at 462.60ft and shall soon have a sistership to be launched in 2012 from the same yard project named ‘Swift135′ at 442.9ft.
