Fast Ferry on the rocks in Ibiza

Another boat accident due to human error: The Maverick Dos fast ferry ran aground in the Balearic Islands last night at 7.55pm as it transported 21 passengers from Ibiza to Formentera. Captain Luis Gascón made sure all of his passengers and six crew members were evacuated to safety by coastguards before he would leave the ferry himself.

Opening day at the Miami Boat Show

The Miami Boat Show commenced on thursday 16th February and the feedback on the state of the marine industry has been very positive ! The Show was opened with an address to maritime industry professional at the 'State of the Industry Breakfast' where performance graphs and figures were presented to analysis the current trends in the industry. Several awards were presented including recognition to Ed Mckiernan and Ralph Lambrecht for NMMA Innovation Award. Beneteau also received an award for it's 'Toucan Touch' mobile software system.

Dolphin Disaster at Cape Cod

About 60 dolphins swam onto the shore of Cape Cod, south of Boston, in Massachusetts last week, baffling marine life experts by their huge numbers. The animals have been swimming onto the shores since Thursday last and about 60 of them have been stranded all along the shores of Cape Cod Bay so far. It was one of the largest such cases in years, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) said in a statement. The IFAW has managed to release a few dolphins back into the sea.
